And we came up with a really cool title.
- My Job Went To India (and all I got was this lousy book)
The book isn’t about how bad the evil outsourcing companies are. Quite the reverse; it embraces the fact that outsourcing is a fact of life. The book’s all about personal development.
So, we were shocked to get feedback calling the book title racist. I know I’m naive in this kind of thing, but it never even occurred to me that folks would see it that way. So now I’m in a quandry. I really, really don’t want people to feel that we’re bashing a subcontinent, or that we’re inciting any kind of hatred. At the same time, I don’t know if the reaction we’re seeing is universal, or if it’s coming from just a few, isolated, folks.
So, I’m really interested in what everyone thinks. I’ve set up a wiki page for discussion, and also for (very primitive) voting.(*)
This is going to be a truly great book, and I want it to reach as many people as it can. I want a title that’s catch and memorable. But I’m also not willing to incite or condone racism. What do you think?
